PrimaLoft keeps around-the-world sailors warm and dry

On September 7th, 2008, a father and son who share the same passion for sailing embarked for a non-stop trip around the world on board their 11-meter sloop, Onitron .

For the next 250/300 days, Piero and Vittorio Fresi, from Sassari, Sardinia, Italy, will retrace the clipper route, following the traditional route (west to east) sailed by commercial ships in the nineteenth century without making any stops.

The sailors’ route takes them south of the large continents, leaving to their left the three great capes: Cape of Good Hope (South Africa), Cape Leeuwin (Australia) and Cape Horn (South America). Along the course, they will face heavy conditions consisting of fierce winds, huge waves and icebergs.

To keep them warm and dry during their journey, Piero and Vittorio will be wearing Dainese gloves, Musto sailing vests and Lundhags’ HotSpot jackets - all made with PrimaLoft high performance insulation. PrimaLoft-insulated sleeping bags from Salewa will give them good night sleep without worrying of being cold or wet.

Onitron I° is expected to return to Porto Torres (Sardinia, Italy) late Spring 2009.
